According to customs import and export data compiled by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China’s automobile exports continued to see modest growth in 2014, with total export value reaching US$84.314 billion, an increase of 7.08% year-on-year. Among these, auto parts exports amounted to US$64.617 billion, up 8.02% over the previous year—though the growth rate slowed slightly compared to the previous year—and accounted for 76.64% of total automobile exports, representing a 0.36 percentage point increase in market share. In contrast, complete vehicle exports accounted for only 15.23%, far lower than the share of parts exports. Overall, the export performance of auto parts in 2014 was relatively strong, with parts exports emerging as the primary driver of growth in automobile exports. The four major categories of auto parts—engines, automotive parts, accessories, and body components; tires for automobiles and motorcycles; and other automobile-related products—each saw year-on-year increases in export value. Specifically, engine exports reached 3.6622 million units, up 10.56% year-on-year, with export value totaling US$1.68 billion, an increase of 6.69%. Automotive parts, accessories, and body component exports totaled US$35.359 billion, up 11.96% year-on-year—a significant improvement over the previous year. Meanwhile, the growth rates for tire and motorcycle tire exports, as well as other automobile-related product exports, slowed somewhat compared to the previous year, with exports reaching US$15.151 billion and US$12.427 billion, respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 1.83% and 5.43%.

Looking at export data from January to December 2014, among the four major categories of auto parts, exports of automotive parts, accessories, and bodies still account for roughly half of the total. Overall, the product structure of exports has not changed significantly, and the added value of exported products has not increased noticeably.

In addition, according to data compiled by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers for seven major categories of auto parts exports—electronic fuel injection systems, vehicle bodies, seat belts, airbag systems, transmissions, drive axles, and shock absorbers—the electronic fuel injection systems experienced a severe decline, with cumulative exports totaling 3.128 million sets, down 69.92% year-on-year. The other six categories showed varying degrees of growth, with seat belt, drive axle, and shock absorber exports recording double-digit year-on-year increases in value, delivering generally strong performance; the remaining three categories saw modest growth.
